“Princeton’s High Performance Initiative”
A Look at How Princeton Athletics Focuses on Performance, Values and Winning With Character
Please join us for the Princeton Club of Orange County Annual Dinner on Wednesday, November 1.
This is typically the year’s largest PCOC event, with local alumni, current students and Princeton parents attending. It is a great way to connect and reconnect with fellow alums, as well as honor local alumni for their service to Princeton and the community.
Our featured speaker will be Greg Hughes ’96, speaking on “Princeton’s High Performance Initiative: A Look at How Princeton Athletics Focuses on Performance, Values and Winning With Character.” Coach Hughes is the men’s heavyweight crew head coach and has been coaching at Princeton since 2006. He transformed the men’s lightweight crew into the top team in the nation before taking the position as head coach of the heavyweight crew. He is himself a former Ivy League and national champion rower.

The Princeton Club of Orange County is joining teams with Best Day Foundation! Best Day Foundation is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit that enables children and young adults with special needs to build confidence and self-esteem through beach day activities!
On Sunday, July 30th, the Best Day is hosting a fun day at the beach at the Del Mar Jetties. It’s a decent drive south, but this day is specifically dedicated to families serving in the military that have children with special needs.
WHEN: Sunday, July 30th, 7:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
WHERE: Del Mar Jetties (Del Mar Beach Resort, Oceanside, CA 92058)
WHO: You and anyone you’d like to bring! No prior training or experience needed.
Please reach out to Colby Hahn ’12 at email@example.com if you plan on attending or if you have any questions! Colby will be driving down and have a few extra seats.
Note: The Best Day Foundation is also hosting the same daytime event on Saturday, July 29th. Feel free to go whichever day works for you!
Join us to send off the newly admitted and returning Princeton undergrad and graduate students with an informal reception. Princeton alums, current students, incoming students, parents and families are all welcome to join.
This year, we are combining the send-off with one of the PCOC’s most popular events: a family-friendly open-house-style dock party, accompanying a boat tour of Newport Harbor captained by Roger Philips ’67.
WHEN: Sunday, August 13, 2017, 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
WHERE: 614 Lido Park Dr., Newport Beach
(Rhine Warf Pier public docks between the Cannery and the Bluewater Grill) – MAP
RSVP: Seth Grossman ’94 firstname.lastname@example.org
Food and refreshments will be provided.
Suggested donation of $10 per adult and $5 per child to help cover the costs.
There is no charge for newly admitted and current Princeton students and their families, and for children under the age of 12.
There is plenty of metered parking on the surrounding streets and behind the Bluewater Grill. (There is no charge for metered parking after 6:00 p.m.)
Dress is very informal and if you are going to sail, please wear non-marking, non-slip shoes. It’s also good idea to bring a windbreaker or light jacket. All ages are welcome, but children under 90 pounds wishing to sail will need to bring their own life vests.
To accommodate as many sailors as possible, our captain, Roger Philips ’67, will likely take several trips. If you’d like to go out first, please plan to arrive at 6:00 p.m. If you want to be sure to sail, please plan to arrive no later than 7:15 p.m. Priority will be given on a first-come-first-serve basis to those that have made a reservation.
Reservations are required for sailing and we would like to receive your RSVP if you plan to attend. Please e-mail Seth Grossman ’94 at email@example.com as soon as possible.
This is going to be a great evening and we look forward to seeing you there.

Calling all OC Tigers baseball fans! Interested in catching an Angels game in a suite with other PCOC MVPs?
Last year, nearly 30 of us had a great evening at the ballpark watching the Angels win from our very own suite. We’re looking to do it again this year and we’re hoping you can join us. First-class suite catering service, cushioned suite seats, and an Angels experience you won’t soon forget.
Date: Saturday, May 13th at 6:07 p.m. against the Detroit Tigers (clever, aren’t we?). Like last year, this is a Fireworks night at the stadium immediately following the game
Pricing: $110-$125 per person, depending on final headcount inclusive of game ticket and in-suite catering (ballpark cuisine)
Families and friends are absolutely welcome to join. If you are interested in attending, please reply to email@example.com to confirm the number of tickets requested. We will follow up when headcount is confirmed with exact cost and a link for submitting payment.
Your prompt reply is appreciated. Let’s go Tigers! Let’s go Angels! Hmm….
The Princeton Men’s Volleyball team will venture to Irvine this Friday, February 3rd at 7pm to take on the Concordia Eagles. I’ve been in touch with Coach Shweisky, and the team would be thrilled to have a cheering section at the Concordia game. We’re looking for a great fan turnout to support the team and show them that we got their back. The venue is CU Arena (1530 Concordia West Irvine, California 92612-3203). The guard gate will guide you to the closest parking lot when you get to the entrance of campus.
Southern California is well represented on the team with Matthew Nicholas (San Juan Capistrano, Calif. / St. Margaret’s), Kendall Ratter (Encinitas, Calif. / La Costa Canyon), Greg Luck (South Pasadena, Calif. / South Pasadena), and Shane Gooding (Newport Beach, Calif. / Corona del Mar)
The Tigers are on their annual post-Finals California trip with a Sunday night showdown against No. 2 UCLA (8 pm PT) at Pauley Pavilion. The match will be televised live on the Pac-12 Network, with Kevin Barnett and legendary former UCLA coach Al Scates calling the action. Princeton will stay in California for the week to both train and compete against UC-San Diego (Feb. 1, 6 pm PT) and Concordia (Feb. 3, 7 pm PT).
Hope to see you there. If you have any questions, reach to Seth Grossman ’94 at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Please join your fellow alumni, along with alumni from the Top 25 schools from US News & World Report’s National University Rankings, to celebrate the 2018 rankings.

This is a terrific way for alumni to meet the new faces of Princeton, as well as for newly admitted students to meet their new classmates. This event is also an opportunity for us to thank the Princeton alums in Orange County who gave of their time to interview this year’s applicants.

Each fall, the Princeton Club of Orange County gathers for our Annual Dinner and Tiger Tribute to recognize a Princeton alumnus for their commitment to service on a local, regional, national or global level. This is typically the year’s largest PCOC event, with local alumni, current students and Princeton parents attending. It is a great way to connect and reconnect with fellow alums.
